How to Celebrate the Holidays in Calgary, AB

Strathmore Ford, as many people know, is a terrific place to shop for a top-quality Ford F-150 near Calgary, AB. But that’s not all: we’re also plugged into the Calgary holiday scene, and we have the inside information on all the best places to go. Here’s just a taste of what’s happening in C-Town over the next month.

The Polar Express Train Ride: though it’s not even 15 years old yet, The Polar Express is hot on the heels of Elf, It’s a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation in the race for “all-time favorite Christmas movie”. Such is its popularity that the Polar Express Train Ride, which departs from Aspen Crossing, is a staple of many a Calgary family’s holiday plans. Hot chocolate and treats are served, Santa and his helpers are onboard, and everybody reads along with the equally popular book that the movie is based on.

A Perfectly Frank Christmas: sure, Banff is a veritable winter wonderland during the festive season, but we’re pretty sure they have nothing like A Perfectly Frank Christmas on their holiday agenda. This hidden gem – actually, it sells out every year, so it isn’t exactly hidden anymore – takes place at the River Park Church. 18 members of the Calgary Jazz Orchestra gather to play some of Ol’ Blue Eyes’ most popular tunes, along with a variety of Christmas-time favorites.

Calgary Nativity Pageant: this pageant, happening Dec. 19 – 24 at Heritage Park, has it all: live animals, live actors, and fantastic outdoor lighting + sound, all set to music by no less an authority than the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
